This year marks a significant milestone for Case, as we’ve been championing independence, opportunity and inclusion for adults with learning disabilities in Hull and East Yorkshire for 40 years!

From humble beginnings to becoming a pillar of support and empowerment in the community, Case has spent four decades transforming lives. As we celebrate this incredible achievement, we’re taking a look back at our journey, the impact we’ve made and our vision for the future.

A legacy of support and inclusion

Case was founded in 1985 by a group of families who recognised the need for better opportunities for adults with learning disabilities. At a time when support services were limited, they set out to create an organisation that would focus on skills development, independence and meaningful experiences. What started as a small initiative has grown into a thriving charity that provides essential training, education and social opportunities for hundreds of people every year.

Since day one, Case has continually evolved to meet the changing needs of the people we support. From life skills and employment training to creative activities and wellbeing programmes, every aspect of our work is designed to help students gain confidence, develop new skills and enjoy fulfilling lives.

Empowering individuals every day

At the heart of Case is a commitment to personalised support. Recognising that no two people are the same, we tailor our training and activities to suit each individual’s strengths and aspirations. Whether it’s preparing for work, building social connections or developing independence, Case provides a safe and nurturing environment where everyone can thrive.

Through various programmes, our organisation helps adults with learning disabilities to gain vocational skills, explore creative talents and develop essential life skills such as budgeting, cooking and communication. This holistic approach ensures that every person who walks through Case’s doors has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The impact of 40 years

Over four decades, Case has positively influenced countless lives. Families have found reassurance knowing that their loved ones are supported, businesses have welcomed skilled workers into the workplace, and the wider community has benefited from greater inclusivity and awareness.

Many of the students who have been part of Case’s programmes have gone on to secure employment, live more independently and build strong friendships. Success stories like these highlight our charity’s invaluable role in creating opportunities and changing perceptions.

Looking to the future

We’re immensely proud of our past and remain fully focused on our future. As we move into our fifth decade, our charity is committed to expanding services, embracing new opportunities and continuing to advocate for inclusion and equality.

With ongoing support from the community, businesses and dedicated volunteers, Case aims to reach even more individuals, ensuring that every adult with a learning disability has access to the training, support and encouragement they need to live their best lives.
