To mark 40 years of Case, we’ve been inviting supporters, staff, family, friends and local businesses to take on a personal challenge as part of our “Challenge 40” campaign. One of our team members, Allison, is taking things to the next level with an incredible three-part endurance challenge.
This summer, Allison will complete a 1-mile swim, a 34-mile bike ride and a 5-mile run – all in one day – to raise funds for Case and celebrate our milestone anniversary in serious style!
An impressive personal challenge
On the day of her challenge, Allison will have worked at Case for exactly four years. Although she’s no stranger to swimming and cycling, she admits that running isn’t exactly her strongest suit, which makes it all the more impressive. With her sights set on finishing the full distance in one day and before lunchtime, she’s determined to push herself whilst raising money for a cause that’s very close to her heart.
“I wanted to do something meaningful to mark Case’s 40th anniversary,” said Allison, “so I decided a sponsored event would be a great way to get involved. I’m a keen swimmer, a fairly decent distance cyclist, and a terrible runner! I’ve done a few triathlons in the past, but it’s been a while. I know I can manage the distances on their own, but doing them all back-to-back will definitely be a challenge. That’s what makes it exciting.”
Pushing the limits for a good cause
At 58 years old, Allison’s determination and honesty about the challenge she’s taking on is incredibly inspiring. Her journey reflects everything Case is about – resilience, community and growth, no matter your age or ability. She’s been documenting her training progress online and you can follow it on Strava.
If you’d like to support her fundraising efforts, you can donate directly via our JustGiving page. Every donation helps us continue our mission to provide learning, training and work experience opportunities for adults with learning disabilities across Hull and the East Riding.
Celebrating 40 years of Case
This year marks four decades of Case supporting adults with learning disabilities to achieve their goals, gain independence and thrive in their communities. Challenge 40 is our way of marking this achievement with a series of individual and team-led fundraising efforts. Whether it’s baking 40 cakes, walking 40 miles or taking on a fitness challenge like Allison’s, each activity helps to raise awareness and funds for the important work we deliver.
A heartfelt thank you
From everyone at Case, we want to say a huge thank you to Allison for going the extra mile (literally!) and showing what’s possible when you set your mind to something. Her dedication, humour and grit are what make her such a valued member of our team, and we’ll all be cheering her on when the big day arrives. Keep an eye on our social media channels for updates and photos as Allison takes on Challenge 40!
