Case Studies

Going to CASE gives me a chance to get out of the house and gives me a chance to do things that I wouldn’t normally get to do, like how to get a job and learning how to get on with other people. I get the chance to meet people, make friends and also support from staff if I’ve got any problems.

Dan

Daniel joined Case in January 2018 after completing three years at Bishop Burton College, where he studied Agriculture for two years and Employability for one. At that point, Dan felt unsure of his direction and lacked a clear focus. However, upon joining Case, he immediately felt at home and found comfort in the new environment. He chose to join the ICT department and Health & Wellbeing (Sport), both of which aligned with his interests.

Kaja

Kaja Hull joined CASE Training straight from school in 2022. From the moment she arrived, her strength of character was clear. A determined, independent young woman with a warm, empathetic nature, Kaja has always faced life’s challenges head-on. Her resilience has been present since birth, and she continues to carry that fighting spirit into adulthood.

Carl

Carl has been attending Case since 2010, engaging with various departments over the years. Carl experiences challenges with speech and can be reluctant to engage in conversation, particularly with people he does not know well.

Despite these challenges, Carl has shown long-term commitment to his development and growth.

Mouaz

Mouaz moved to the UK in 2015 and quickly became known for his great sense of humour and ability to make people smile. He enjoys learning and takes part in a variety of departments at CASE, always bringing a positive attitude.

Magda

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Magda—a vibrant performer with Down’s Syndrome and a hearing impairment—thrived on stage. She sang with confidence, danced with joy, and connected naturally with her audience. Her charisma, warmth, and energy made her a standout presence in any performance.

James

James Gibbons joined Case in September 2018. Like many, he experienced significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. When restrictions were lifted, James was reluctant to return to the Case building, feeling anxious about re-engaging with in-person activities.

Mark

Mark is a dedicated participant at CASE, attending five days a week and engaging across a range of departments. Known for his quiet and pleasant demeanour, Mark is a well-liked individual who approaches his daily tasks with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

Tia

Tia joined CASE in August 2023. She has a learning disability, global developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), hypermobility, and dyspraxia. Upon joining, Tia presented as a very shy, quiet, and anxious young lady. She preferred her own space, minimal interaction, and avoided physical contact. Loud environments were overwhelming for her, and she relied on routine and ear defenders to manage sensory input.
