At CASE we pride ourselves on being a true Centre of Excellence – a place where adults with learning disabilities are supported, celebrated, and given every opportunity to thrive. For 40 years we have been at the heart of our community, delivering high-quality training, creative opportunities, and life-enhancing experiences.

Functional Skills – strengthening literacy and numeracy to build confidence in everyday life and future opportunities.
Creative Arts – encouraging self-expression through painting, sculpture, textiles, crafts, and design.
Photography Group – capturing creativity through the lens, exploring composition, digital editing, and visual storytelling.
Performing Arts (Discovery) – building confidence, teamwork, and communication through music, dance, drama, and public performance.
Health & Wellbeing (Sports) – promoting active lifestyles through inclusive sports, exercise, and wellbeing activities.

Together these departments make CASE a dynamic and inspiring place to learn. By combining practical skills with creativity, wellbeing, and community engagement, we ensure every trainee has the chance to discover their talents, achieve their goals, and live life to the fullest.
History
CASE was founded in 1985 by parents and carers of young people with learning disabilities in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. The establishment of the charity was in response to the lack of appropriate provision to meet the needs of those individuals who although having a learning disability had the capacity and desire to improve their opportunities in life.
The charity has grown and developed over the years from a few volunteers to an established charity with approximately 110 trainees, 21 staff and many volunteers; catering to the needs of Learning Disabled Adults.
Starting with a small group of volunteers and a handful of service users operating out of small rented premises, the charity grew to meet the rising demand for learning, employment and educational support. Originally known as the Charter House Association for Supported Employment it became CASE in 1998. Over the years it has been able to attract funding from the local authorities for supporting clients and for a number of years had formed a partnership with Hull College (HCUK) to deliver accredited training and qualifications.
