Independent Learning

A supportive and flexible learning environment

Independent learning with the use of ICT can be a powerful tool for people with learning difficulties. ICT offers a wide range of resources and tools, such as interactive software and assistive technologies, which can cater to varied learning needs. For those with learning difficulties, ICT can provide a supportive and flexible learning environment, allowing people to progress at their own pace, and receive immediate tutor feedback. ICT empowers people with learning difficulties by providing them with the tools and resources they need to bloom in their learning journeys. Independent learning tasks can incorporate weekly journal updates, using TTRS (certificates at the end of each level), using Jigsaw Explorer (eye & hand co-ordination) and working on tasks that are important to each individual, like a personal project.

Pursuing certificates can serve as a motivating factor for people with learning difficulties. The expectation of earning a qualification can inspire learners to stay focused and committed to their own learning goals. Certificates serve as evidence of one’s skills and knowledge.
