A blog about our football team, CASE FC. Featuring an interview with coach Josh – Sports, Health, and Wellbeing Trainer at CASE Training Services
Our Hull-based learning disability centre has its very own footie team called CASE FC (and yes…we have our own kit!). We love playing football, and we sing whether we are winning or losing. To give you a taste of what life is like on our team, we’ve interviewed coach Josh – who is also CASE’s Sports & Wellbeing Trainer.
What our football players say
Amy T:
“I Like everyone being together at football because I make new friends.”
Tim W:
“I learn new skills and I really enjoy playing with the team.”
Hey, Josh! What are you working on with the team right now
The footballers have been working on their general fitness, through running drills, team games and fast speed ball drills. Alongside general fitness, the players are working on tackling and pressing their opponents. We are working hard to build a defensive team structure to apply on match days.
If you’re an adult living with a learning disability and you LOVE football, get in touch with us today.
What are your favourite activities to do in football?
My favourite football drills to coach are shooting drills, the players love to shoot at goal and the competitive element of the shooting drills always makes it really exciting.
What do you love about your job?
The most satisfying part of my job is making a difference to the trainees’ lives. I really enjoy working with the trainees on a daily basis, they always make me smile and make my job so enjoyable. My classes work hard, and they appreciate the support that we give them, we work together as one team. The new facilities at West Hull ARLFC have given us a platform to develop and I am so grateful for the support that they have given us. All the staff, volunteers and trainees at Case are great and it makes Case an amazing place to work!
Who are the star footballers – who has improved, and who is good at what?
All the footballers are improving at their own speeds, we have a great team ethic, and we all encourage each other to improve and take part. Here are some quotes from our Case Footballers.
How did the trainees react to the new footie kit?
Background info: CASE recently received a new football kit which was generously donated by our Sponsor – a local accountancy firm called Harris Lacey and Swain.
The trainees were ecstatic when they wore the new football kit for the first time, they even want to wear it for training! I can’t keep up with all the washing! All the footballers are so grateful to be able to wear such a smart new kit.
Tell us about yourself, Josh
Hi! I’m Josh – Sports, Health, and Wellbeing Trainer at CASE. I’ve been at CASE for 3 years, and before that, I worked as a football referee. I’m a huge Leeds United fan (aside from being my CASE football team’s no.1 fan obviously!). My favourite foods are chocolate and pizza, my least favourites are mushrooms and tomatoes…they’re not for me!
